BWCFFBF 2020 Senior Scholarships

The BWCFFBF (Bellingham-Whatcom County Firefighters Benevolent Foundation was able to award $5000 in scholarships to local Whatcom County High School Graduating Seniors this year!! The seven students were selected from 13 applicants. Two of the students are children of L106 members.

Here are the students and amounts they will be receiving:

Kali Cook  (Matt Cook L-106)  $900   Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Jensen Kintzele  (Rob Kintzele L-106)  $900  Statistics /Systems Analyst degree with minor in Leadership 

Quentin Icay  $700    Fire Science

Jocelyn Tovar  $700  EMT/Paramedic/RN

Makenzie Flake  $600  Fire Science

Ilona Klecka  $600  Fire Service /Emergency Management

Chelsey LaPlante  $600  Athletic Trainer/Sports Medicine

All of these students represent the community service, humble, giving spirit, hard working, responsible and reliable team members and leadership qualities that embody the memorial scholarship honorees of Jason Karwhite , John Swobody, Robert Spinner and others who have served our community.

We hope to be able to honor these fine young adults in the near future and present these scholarships to them in person, in front of union members, family and friends. 

In the meantime, if you see Matt Cook or Rob Kintzele- congratulate them on their kids success and if you know any of the other students please let them know you are proud of their accomplishments!

Our future is in our honor them for their hard work and accomplishments makes them better citizens and we hope they will pay it forward!
